Where I've Been and What I've Been Doing

Aside from getting screwed (read the story here).. I was in Sharjah for two nights (23-24 Dec). My wonderful friends invited me to spend the Christmas eve with them and they were generous enough to adopt and feed me (ahhh.. the Christmas spirit).. As you know, my sister is a revert and I'm stuck in the middle between Catholicism and Islamism.  *I went back to Dubai on the 25th (and that was fucking Christmas!), where the shitty thing happened.*

So anyways..

I took a pic of the view from my friends' balcony for you to have a peek on the "other side" of Sharjah *attention: bosnishmuslima*.
From the left side of the balcony: Overlooking the picturesque Sharjah
From the center of the balcony: Overlooking the picturesque Sharjah
From the right of the balcony: Overlooking the picturesque Sharjah

Then, Sunday (26th) I had my 2nd/3rd chance to ride in a driverless train, Dubai Metro. It's the fastest and cheapest way to go one side to another side of Dubai and really very modern (Paris Metro is no match *blehh*). Check the photo below, it's the 'Jumeirah Lake Towers' station. Please be informed that what you are seeing is the platform screen doors NOT the train (see the electronic noticed board, it says 'next train 2 mins'). Those screen doors are for everyone's safety, it will prevent people from accidents such as falling onto the train tracks (brilliant, right?!)

P.S. It's 3am need to sleep, I'm going to the Police Station in few hours to get a police report of my stupidity lost passport.. so in case, I didn't get it back, my consulate here will issue me a new passport. Wish me luck.. good night!

I hope I will get a better one...I am looking for hotels in Dubai to stay and to drive on the five days of exhibition to Sharjah! Is it advisible or should I book a hotel in Sharjah?

Are you going to be there every day for 5 straight days?

If yes, then I suggest you book a hotel in Sharjah as driving from Dubai to Sharjah and vice versa can be a bit of a pain in the ass (you are going to be pissed off with an-hour-or-so traffic)

  3. I will be every day from 1st till 5th in Sharjah on the exhibition and from 6th till 9th I would like to be in Dubai! And I looked for combining the hotels the first 5 days Sharjah and the rest in Dubai but it is much more expensive than to book just one destination!
So where should I book the complete stay? Sharjah or Dubai?

  4. Oh, that is one thing that is hard to decide.. I would suggest you book a hotel in Sharjah for the exhibition and a hotel in Dubai after because it's a hassle to drive all the way there in traffic everyday.

By the way, I am now looking for hotels as you adviced first 5 days in Sharjah and the rest in Dubai!
As for Dubai I saw some nice hotels in Deira and Bur Dubai! Which surrounding would you recommend?

    *grins*

Did you check hotels in Sheikh Zayed road? It's within or at least near Dubai landmarks (Jumeirah area, tallest tower, best shopping malls, etc)

Hotels in Bur Dubai is I guess same with Deira. Both have 4-5 star hotels but Bur Dubai is near Shk Zayed.

I was residing in Deira before (5 yrs) that's why I can tell you more about it, like if you want to see the Deira Creek view, you can check Carlton Hotel, Deira Twin Towers, Radisson SAS, Sheraton Hotel etc. You can experience the motorized boat called "Abra" to cross the Creek, from Deira to Bur Dubai and vice versa. You can also check the Deira market, where they sell goods in cheap price. Gold Souq (market) is in Deira too.

Ahlan wa Sahlan! Welcome to Dubai!

P.S. Do I sound like I'm from Tourism Department? LOL

    Anytime :)

You won't really have a problem with hotels. They are really everywhere here - from trashy to pricey - name it!

P.S. I forgot to mention the "Dhow Cruise Dinner" - dinner on a floating resto, not only enjoying the food but also the fascinating lights that reflect on the Creek plus the music, belly dancing, and other shows. Dhow cruises, mostly, start from Deira side!

P.P.S. I think you are confusing me (Bitten) with Silla (IamFarsilla) :p

  10. Sorry Biten, as you see I am already total confused! Sitting the whole day long infront of my laptop and my eyes are becoming square-cut ;-))

  12. @bosnish| No worries dear, I'm just teasing you. You should rest your eyes and take some sleep.. pulling all-nighters on my laptop ruined my eyes.

@silla| Yup, you should take the chance to learn the lesson from my recent mishap. :)
